Another Utopian novel with a head strong female protagonist (yaaaawn…)
Story summary: A self-doubting timid girl from poor background discovers she has an incredibly unusual talent, rises to the ranks of a queen and heads a revolution to liberate her ‘kind’ from the evil doers.
Being the one and only with unique powers, she is confused about her own ability and searches for an identity.
She comes across people who are ostensibly good but double cross her.
Now throw in the typical harsh-exterior-mushy-interior handsome guy who goes crazy for her simpleton self.
Completely original, excepting the blatantly similar contents from Divergent, House of Night, The Hunger Games, The Mortal Instruments, Graceling etcetera.
Not to mention ALL the X-MEN powers that these Silvers possess.
Let me draw up a comparison…
The hard workers – Telky – Jean/Phoenix…
The Guards – Stormer – Storm… and
The Main Guard – Magnetron – Magneto… (No extra points for coming up with original names)
The Queen-to-be Evangeline – Metal Manipulation– Wolverine… (I am sorry I had to compare you to a B**ch)
And….the one who controls them all,Queen Elara – Whisper – Professor X (both can penetrate minds)
No offence but I prefer Professor X to crazy mind-reader Queen when it comes to penetrating my Mind.
Don’t get me wrong, I had a hugeeee takeaway from this novel.
Yeah.. Victoria Aveyard is a die-hard X-men fan !!!
With a lot of borrowed ideas & characters from all the fantasy fiction known to mankind, and missing originality, Red Queen is a meh for me.
