What a wonderful book!
For those of you who don’t know what the book is, here is the gist – The Undomestic Goddess is about this high-flying big town London based Lawyer, Samantha, who slips into a much laid back job. The changeover is like moving from Violet to Red, literally from one end to the other end of the spectrum.  How Samantha manages this sudden shift is the hilarious content of The Undomestic Goddess.

This novel could top the charts if it were made into a movie. It is easily the material for a Romcom. It is wonderfully thought out, and told with excellence. I did like Sophie Kinsella’s story-telling. It is a tried and tested formula – take up simple theme and story and make it work wonders just by using witty, intelligent story-telling. In this story, we all know how it is going to end, but that didn’t stop me from reading upto the end with frenzied interest. Yep, the momentum was up till the very end. That’s why it would make such a superb movie.

If there is one point I could criticize, it would be the editing. There were huge chunks of prose – could’ve divided that up. That’s about it. I’ve got nothing more to criticize. Continue reading

The plot dragged in Revealed. People who expect action from Aurox/Heath prepare to be disappointed ‘cos the Bull somehow becomes a docile creature this book . Shaylin’s character-building was good. I just wanna read the final book and put this series to an end.

The plot keeps thickening. I liked Stevie Rae’s amazing comeback and adorable Jack. Although Stark’s character could have had a little more build up before we all totally fall in love with the mysterious stranger. The gang finally gets bigger, better and awesome to kick some serious High-priestess ass 😉 , I mean “butt” if I am to stick with the vocab standards we are following here 😛

The series seems to be improving. The plot thickens, yet it doesn’t make the narrative any less bearable. I like that all the characters are being dug deep, like the softer side of Aphrodite and the nefarious side of Neferet.

This book was no better than the first in terms of the writing. *oh my god, the writing totally sucked, like seriously !

I hated the narrative. Way too much repetitive and contrived elements like dead-undead-ghost-freakish-things.

And clearly the authors intended us to get shocked by Stevie Rae’s transformation , which until the very end we are to believe as one of Zoey-I-have-every-possible-power-in-the-vampyre-world “special powers” to see ghosts.

One word – Ridiculus .

Aaaaand we are back again to the undane drama. Awakened focussed solely on Jack’s death and clearly P.C.Cast was running out of things to say in this book . Although I badly wanted Rephaim to turn away from Darkness and his dad, the moment was extremely banal and did not excite me at all. There was no real struggle to choose between love for Stevie Rae and his eternal servitude. Heath returning was obvious and completely unwanted. Won’t we have the sweet clueless boy anymore.? I have come to like the Light and Darkness personified very much. The Bulls instill a sense of fear (both the good and the bad ) and there is no denying their majestic presence . Hope the story catches pace in Destined.

one word-Rubbish.
I can’t imagine a romance that is sappier. The crappy writing made this worse. I can’t imagine people actually sucking up such an immature author and his scribbling. Sure , I feel pity on his part , but to have lost a loved one is like losing a part of oneself. I didn’t find pathos in any part of the book except the last chapter. If he had intended to keep her death a secret, he did a very bad job of naming his book so.

I personally feel that when one talks about a loved one, one would glorify them and that their account would carry a certain pathos. This expectation is especially more when the survivor is an author(or artist). It was a pathetic ground to describe your ‘life’s love’ in such scarce and erroneous writing.

Ravinder, if you were my friend I would have not sympathized , because you told me of a girl you met online, and within days you tell me she is no more!! Am I to sympathize with a complete stranger ? If you intended to keep it  very personal write a diary. If you want to write a book about your exalted love , then the least you can do is make us also fall in love with her.

I could hardly tolerate this book. First of all calling the Raven mockers , bad bir- boys was utter nonsense. Second every female being attracted to the fallen angel was lecherous. The fact that Zoey even discusses the origins of this through her Grandma is disturbing. Finally after making such a big deal about how Zoeg is the one who can eliminate this Kalona immortal , the brandish him with poems of love ?! I mean how did the cynical Aphrodite even agree to this? This book is stupid.

This is an anthology that I very much enjoyed in the recent past. I loved Roald Dahl’s story-telling. Every story had a grip and a strong baseline. I enjoyed the crispness in the stories, the slight macabre touch , and the plot twists in the end.
Some stories were funny and lighthearted, others had some gore and left me thinking way into the night. But there wasn’t one that didn’t interest me. Every story was a different kind , there wasn’t any repetitive plot. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and everyone must give it a read at least once.

I liked how the story ends in this completely unexpected cliffhanger. It was a nice change to see Zoey-girl-who-can-move-mountains become almost normal again. I loved the part with Darius and Aphrodite. Rephaim and Stark added reality and groundedness to the story that none of the other ‘nerd-herd’ of Zoey’s could do in the previous five books.
I hope the story moves a little faster in the future books . I can’t deal with the boyfriend drama.
